The visit of the president of the People's Republic of China reflects the great importance that China attaches to bilateral relations, according to Zhang Xiao, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Kazakhstan.

Ambassador Zhang Xiao noted that the leaders had achieved fruitful outcomes by exchanging views on bilateral relations, cooperation in various areas, international and regional issues that are of mutual interest. The parties agreed to open a consulate general in Xian and Aktobe to ease travelling of citizens of the two countries. The diplomat pointed out that Xi Jinping had been in Kazakhstan for more than 3 hours and President Tokayev personally met his Chinese counterpart and bid farewell to him in the airport

Kazakh president welcomed Xi warmly at airport,with the highest courtesy and accompanied him throughout the visit. And he was fluent in Chinese during the meeting. During the talks, President Xi Jinping stressed that China would continue to strongly support Kazakhstan in defending its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, firmly support the reforms Kazakhstan is carrying out to ensure stability and development and oppose the interference of any forces in the internal affairs the country, Ambassador Zhang Xiao said.

He noted that the initiative "One Belt One Road" would be promoted.

Since the beginning of this year, China–Europe freight trains exceed 10,000 so far despite the challenges. Even amid the epidemic, the relations between China and Kazakhstan has been developing, making an important contribution to the stability of the global production and supply chain, the diplomat said.

China is one of Kazakhstan’s biggest trade partners, accounting for 22.6 percent of the country’s foreign trade, according to data from the Kazakh State Revenue Committee.

The trade turnover reached $13.5 billion in seven months of 2022, 38.3 percent more than in the same period of 2021. This was largely driven by a 52 percent increase in exports to China, primarily exports of mineral products, fuel, and energy products.
