The Department of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology in the Turkestan region has uncovered violations of Kazakhstan’s law “On Ensuring Uniformity of Measurements” during inspection activities.

It was found that two municipal enterprises were operating electricity meters, as well as ammeters and voltmeters, without undergoing mandatory metrological verification.

Under current regulations, all measuring devices used for billing between service providers and consumers, as well as for industrial safety purposes, must have valid verification certificates. The use of unverified equipment can distort actual consumption data and raise concerns about the safety of electrical networks.

The department stressed that the accuracy of such instruments is crucial not only for correct billing but also for technical safety. Faulty readings from voltmeters and ammeters may lead to incorrect assessments of network loads, increasing the risk of accidents, while unverified meters infringe on consumers’ rights to accurate information.

Following the inspection, the enterprises were held administratively responsible. Fines totaling 3,892,500 tenge were imposed, and orders were issued to eliminate the identified violations.
