Aruzhan is known for actively promoting eco-friendly habits among her peers and adults for several years. As an ambassador of the ECOJER association, she took part in various events on the topic of ecology, told about rational consumption and shared life hacks on how her family started waste sorting. Also she told about her journey to vegetarianism. She is now studying ecology at Furman University in South Carolina.
"I have been evolving in this field for several years; I read various research studies on environmental issues, joined in the events as a speaker. Therefore, I decided to study ecology. Currently I am a first-year student at Furman University. During the first years I’ll be studying sustainable development on the basis of economics and political systems, in the third year I will choose specific specialization. It's well-known that there are a lot of environmental problems in our country, and I think that we need as many specialists as possible who will work on solving such problems," said Aruzhan.
Every year an international fashion show is held at university as a part of International Education Week. Representatives of various nationalities take part in this event and introduce their national dress to the audience. Aruzhan presented national jewelry and presented mini-film which is edited by her.
"It was important for me to show the beauty and cultural wealth of Kazakhs and break down stereotypes about my country. And it was crucial to show local students what my country is famous for and I decided to show it through national dress," said Aruzhan.
According to her, such events are held on a regular basis and they are part of extra-curriculum education, allowing international students to show their culture and history to students from different countries.
