Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev held official talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand Sihasak Phuangketkeow during his visit to Kazakhstan.
The discussions focused on strengthening political dialogue, expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, and deepening cultural and humanitarian ties. Special emphasis was placed on improving transport and logistics connectivity, as well as enhancing cooperation between Central Asia and Southeast Asia.
Both sides noted the positive dynamics of bilateral relations and expressed their readiness to further broaden practical cooperation across various sectors.
“Thailand remains one of Kazakhstan’s most important partners in Southeast Asia. Today’s discussions once again demonstrated the strong mutual understanding between our countries and our shared determination to advance new initiatives in trade, investment, and humanitarian cooperation,” Minister Kosherbayev stated.
The parties also explored opportunities for collaboration in agriculture, food production, digital technologies, logistics, and tourism. Kazakhstan reaffirmed its intention to utilize the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route to facilitate trade and strengthen economic links between the two regions.
The ministers exchanged views on regional and global developments, reaffirming their commitment to the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. During the meeting, the Kazakh side also presented President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s proposal to establish an International Water Organization under the auspices of the UN.
The talks concluded with the signing of a Joint Action Plan between the foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and Thailand for the period of 2027–2028.
As part of the Thai delegation’s visit, a Kazakhstan–Thailand Business Forum will be held in Almaty, bringing together government officials and business representatives from both countries. Several agreements aimed at boosting bilateral trade, economic cooperation, and investment are expected to be signed on the sidelines of the forum.
