The Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC Nurlan Zhakupov held a meeting with Mr. Sun Yongcai, the Chairman of CRRC Corporation Limited and concurrently the Head of CRRC Group. CRRC Corporation Limited is a Chinese corporation, the world's largest manufacturer of railway transport.
Samruk-Kazyna and CRRC Corporation Limited have signed a cooperation agreement. The document is of a strategic nature, aimed at strengthening ties and searching for new investment opportunities. It was noted at the meeting that Kazakhstan is also interested in deep localization of locomotive production using advanced technologies and creation of service centers for equipment maintenance. CRRC, in turn, can gain access to the EAEU and European markets through the republic.
“The volume of cargo transportation by rail between Kazakhstan and China annually shows a positive trend. In 2023, the volume of cargo transportation amounted to 28.3 million tons, having increased by 22% by 2022. CRRC is our long-standing reliable partner, and we are interested in developing our cooperation”, - Zhakupov said during the meeting. China is one of the five largest investors in the Kazakhstan economy. The total amount of investments is more than $23 billion.
